Hey guys! I'm looking to build a competitive deck but don’t wanna break the bank, you know? Anyone got good budget brews? I usually play at Games Haven and heard they have some nice deals on singles. Maybe something that can do well at the upcoming Singapore Open? My friends say aggro decks cheaper to build but I like control also. What do you all think?
Eh bro, you can try Mono-Red Aggro, super cheap and quite effective. Can grab most cards from Grey Ogre Games, they got good pricing! Plus, it’s fast so you can finish games quickly and get more matches in during events like Malaysia Championships. I built mine under SGD 100. Just need a few Goblin guides and Lightning strikes. Don't forget to pack some sideboard for fun!
Aiyoh, if you like control, maybe go for a budget Esper Control build? My playgroup in Indonesia is using this and it works quite well! You can get cheap removal spells and some counter spells from Flagship Games. Just make sure you have enough card draw lah. Weather too hot to play outside, better to play in-store more comfortable. Anyway, have fun and good luck for the Singapore Open!
Hey there! If you’re looking for a budget brew, I’d suggest checking out a Selesnya Tokens deck. It’s pretty affordable and can pack a punch with cards like Raise the Alarm and Saproling Migration. You can find these at stores like Cardboard Corner or The Magic Shop, and they often have good deals on bulk buys. Plus, you can create an army of tokens to overwhelm your opponents! For the Singapore Open, just make sure to have some board wipes in your sideboard since aggro can be popular. Also, don't forget to hydrate while playing; the weather can be quite hot and humid. Good luck, and I hope to see you at Games Haven for some matches!
Hey there! I totally get where you're coming from. Building on a budget can be challenging, but it's definitely doable! Since you mentioned you like control, how about trying a Mono-Blue Tempo deck? You can get a lot of value with cards like Delver of Secrets and some cheap counterspells like Counterspell or Negate. Plus, the deck can surprise your opponents with some quick threats. You can find these cards at places like Hobby Point or The Game Store; they usually have good prices on singles.
Also, don't underestimate the power of a good sideboard! Having some cards to deal with aggro decks can really help at the Singapore Open. Maybe include some board wipes or life gain spells if you're feeling spicy. And remember, don't let the heat get to you while you're playing; make sure to take breaks and hydrate! Hope this helps you get started, and may the best deck win at the event!
Hey bro! I feel you on the budget struggle. If you're keen on control, you might wanna try a Dimir Control deck. Cards like Thoughtseize and Counterspell are pretty affordable and can really disrupt your opponent's game plan. You can find them at shops like The Magic Vault or Card Traders; they usually have some good deals on singles. Plus, with the Singapore Open coming up, having a solid control deck could really give you an edge against aggro decks. Just be sure to pack some cheap removal spells like Fatal Push or Cast Down to deal with those pesky creatures. And yeah, don’t forget to bring water and maybe a fan; the heat can be brutal during those long matches. Hope you find something that clicks for you, and see you at Games Haven for some games, lah!
