Hey fellow Magic fans! Anyone here into altering cards or custom arts? I recently got my hands on some cheap markers from Games Haven and started doodling on my old cards. It's quite fun lah! Would love to see what you all have done or any tips you can share. Also, thinking of bringing some altered cards to the Singapore Open next month, hope they’ll stand out! How's the meta treating you guys? You think custom arts can give us edge in games or not?
Wah, I love altering cards too! My friend at Grey Ogre Games did a sick alter on my Snapcaster Mage, now he looks like a street fighter, haha! I think it really brings personality to the deck, especially during events like the Malaysia Championships. Just be careful with the pricing, some people really overcharge for alters. But if you do it yourself, it's so much cheaper and unique! Anyone else tried altering lands? I’m thinking of going with a tropical theme since our weather so hot!
Altering cards is so fun! Just last week, I did an alter of my beloved Tarmogoyf, made him look like a local hawker! The other players at Flagship Games were laughing but I think it fits the meta here, right? We all need some spice! Anyway, you guys should check out the local playgroups on Facebook, they usually have events where folks showcase their alters too. It's all about the community vibes, you know? Plus, it feels good to show off your art while enjoying some kopi!
I’ve seen some crazy alters in our local scene! One guy made all his creatures look like food, and I can't eat without thinking about his cards, haha! It’s great to add that personal touch, especially if you’re playing in major events like the Indonesia Open. Just a tip, if you’re using normal markers, remember to spray a sealant after, or else you might lose your art during a rainy day, can’t take risk! Let’s keep this thread alive and share our projects, yeah?
Hey there! Altering cards is such a great way to express yourself and bring some flair to your deck. I remember when I altered my own version of a Raging Goblin to look like a local street performer. The reactions were priceless! In Singapore, I love checking out the events at The Mind Cafe and bringing my altered cards – it's a great way to connect with other players. Just a tip, if you're planning to showcase them at the Singapore Open, consider using some UV protective spray after you finish your art. It helps keep the colors vibrant under the hot sun! And about the meta, in our local games, custom arts can definitely spark conversations and might even distract your opponents, which is always a plus. Let’s keep sharing our works and maybe organize a little showcase at our next meet-up! Cheers!
Hey everyone! Love seeing all the creative alters in this thread! I’ve been dabbling a bit too and recently transformed my Lightning Bolt to feature a local hawker stall with a fiery chef – it gets a good laugh during games! One thing I’ve found helpful is to make sure the card is clean before you start doodling; a clean canvas really makes your art pop. Also, if you're planning to take them to the Singapore Open, consider using some of that varnish from Art Friend to protect your work; the humidity can really do a number on those markers! And yes, I believe custom arts can definitely give you a unique edge, especially when they catch your opponent off guard. Nothing like seeing a familiar card with a twist! Let’s keep sharing our projects, and maybe we can even set up a mini showcase at one of the local events like those at The Cathay. Cheers and happy altering!
