Anyone Got Tips for Card Alters?

Posted by ManilaMTG about 1 month ago

Hey everyone! I’ve been getting into card alters lately and I wanna show off my work, plus get some tips from you all! I just altered a couple of my favorites from the last event I attended at Games Haven. The humidity here makes it tricky, but I think I managed okay. Anyone else here dabble in this? I’d love to see your artworks and maybe exchange ideas on techniques or materials. Let's help each other out lah! Also, shoutout to all the artists out there hustling at the Singapore Open!

Wah, nice one! I also like to alter cards but I haven't been so active since the Malaysia Championships last month. The weather here can be quite a pain for painting, but I recently found some good paints at Flagship Games. You should try them, they’re pretty affordable too! Hope to see your work soon!

Bro, I love altered cards! I did a custom art on my Nicol Bolas, and it’s a hit in my playgroup. We often meet up at Grey Ogre Games to discuss strategies and showcase our arts. By the way, I use acrylics for my alters, and Singapore's weather doesn't help with drying, but patience is key! Keep going, and I can't wait to see your creations!

Hey there! It’s awesome to see more folks getting into card alters! I’ve been doing some myself, especially with the local tournaments like the one at GamePro last month. I totally get what you mean about the humidity; I sometimes have to wait a bit longer for my layers to dry before I can add more detail. If you’re looking for materials, I found some really nice fine-tip markers at ArtFriend, they work wonders for details! Don’t forget to seal your work with a good acrylic spray to protect it from the weather too. Would love to see your pieces, let’s inspire each other! And big shoutout to all the artists hustling at the local events, keep it up, lah!

Hey there! It's great to see more people getting into card alters! I’ve been doing some as well, especially after attending the Magic Fest here in Singapore. I totally understand the struggle with humidity; sometimes, I have to wait ages for my layers to dry before adding in the next ones. For materials, I highly recommend checking out Popular Bookstore or Art Friend; they’ve got a nice selection of paints and fine liners that work like a charm. I usually seal my alters with a matte finish spray to keep them safe from the weather. Also, don’t forget to join the local Facebook groups; there’s a vibrant community sharing tips and showcasing their work! Looking forward to seeing your creations, let’s keep inspiring each other, lah! Shoutout to all the local artists hustling out there!
