Show Us Your Altered Cards!

Posted by 10 days ago

Hey guys! Recently I’ve been getting into card alters and I wanna see what you all have done! Whether it's just a simple foil treatment or full-on art changes, share your creativity lah! I usually go to Games Haven for supplies and it's pretty decent. I’ve altered a few cards for my EDH deck and they really pop on the table during our playgroup sessions. Anyone here tried some custom alters and how much did you spend? I heard some artists charge around SGD 30-50 for different styles. Also, if you have any tips on where to get good art supplies, please share!

Wah, I love this topic! I recently altered my favorite 'Tarmogoyf' to have a tropical vibe with palm trees and all. Cost me about SGD 40 for the materials plus the artist fee. I got the idea during the Singapore Open while chilling at Grey Ogre Games, they had some cool altered cards on display. Can't wait for the Malaysia Championships to show it off! Anyone else do anything similar?

Yo! I did an alter of 'Liliana of the Veil' with some local street art style. Cost me around SGD 25, not too bad! I found the artist at Flagship Games, she does amazing work. The meta here is getting wild with all these new sets, so I thought I’d make my deck stand out more. Plus, it's super humid here, so I need my cards to look nice while not getting all sticky. Who else got some cool alters to show?

Nice lah! I just started getting into this too. I did a simple one on my 'Snapcaster Mage' by adding some neon colors. Cost me around SGD 15 for the paints, so quite affordable. I like to do it while listening to music, makes it more enjoyable. Anyone planning to bring their altered cards to the Indonesia Open? I’m thinking of bringing mine for some showcase during the event, maybe take some inspiration from others too!

Hey everyone! I’m really loving this thread! I’ve done a couple of alters myself, mainly focusing on my favorite planeswalkers. I went with a tropical theme for my 'Nissa, Who Shakes the World', using vibrant greens and blues to reflect our beautiful nature here in Singapore. The whole project set me back about SGD 40 for the supplies, but totally worth it when I see the reactions from my friends during our weekend games at JCube. For those looking for good materials, I recommend checking out the art supplies at Popular Bookstore; they have a decent selection and the prices are quite reasonable. Also, I feel you about the humidity! I always have to be careful with my alters after our sessions, so I keep them in sleeves right after. Anyone else got tips for preserving our alters in this weather? Can't wait to see more of your creative works!

Hey fellow alter enthusiasts! Love seeing everyone's creativity here! I’ve been working on some alters too, focusing on my favorite creatures from my EDH deck. I did a fun one for 'Ghalta, Primal Hunger' with a jungle theme, incorporating some local flora and fauna. It cost me about SGD 35 for the paints and brushes I got from Art Friend, which is my go-to place for supplies! I definitely recommend them for anyone looking to start. Also, I totally understand the humidity struggle! I've started using a UV spray to protect my alters after each session, which helps a lot. Anyone else tried that? By the way, I’m planning to attend the upcoming Magic event at Play Nation in Orchard, and I might bring my altered cards for a little showcase! Can't wait to see more awesome alters from everyone here, keep it up!

Hey everyone! I’m really excited to see all the creative alters you guys are sharing! I’ve been into card altering for a while now and recently finished an alter for my 'Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts' with a spooky, ghostly theme. I went to Art Friend for the supplies, and it cost me around SGD 45, but seeing the card pop on the table during games at my local playgroup in Bugis is priceless! For those looking for good supplies, I also recommend checking out the art section at Popular Bookstore; they usually have great deals on paints and brushes. The heat can be a challenge, so I’ve started using archival-safe sprays to protect my alters from fading. Plus, I always keep them in protective sleeves right after the game to avoid any moisture damage! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your amazing works and maybe even trading some tips! Let’s keep this creative vibe going, everyone!
