Eh, anyone here into card alters ah? I recently started altering some of my favorite cards, like my iconic Lightning Bolt. Can’t wait to show them at the next Singapore Open! I usually go to Games Haven or Grey Ogre Games after work to get inspiration and supplies. Anyone got tips on where to find good art supplies? Also, I think altered cards can really add a personal touch to our decks, right? Let's see what you guys have done!
Wah, I love altered cards! I did a custom foil on my Swords to Plowshares. Got the art from an artist at Flagship Games last month during the Malaysia Championships. The way they combine colors is just stunning! Plus, it can fetch a nice price if you ever want to sell it. You can easily charge 50 SGD for a nice alter, man! Anyone else got good stories on alts?
Aiyoh, I’m so bad at art! But I appreciate the work others do. I saw some amazing alters at the recent Indonesia Open; one guy had a whole deck done in a watercolor theme. So nice and cozy, like our tropical weather! I think it really fits the vibe. But yeah, I mostly just play with my plain cards. Maybe I should try, but I scared it turn out ugly, lol!
I used to think altering cards is just for pros, but I tried it last month and wow, it’s super fun! Got some materials from a local shop in JB; they sell stuff at good prices. I altered my Jace, the Mind Sculptor into a classic anime style, and now it’s the centerpiece of my EDH deck! Can’t wait to show it off to my local playgroup. Who knows, maybe I can even trade some for more cards at our next meetup!
Hey there! So glad to see more folks getting into card alters! I totally agree that they add a nice personal touch to our decks. I remember the first time I altered a card, it was my Thragtusk, and I just went wild with some markers and glitter. It turned out better than I expected! For art supplies, I usually hit up Popular Bookstore or Art Friend at Plaza Singapura; they have a decent range of paints and tools for not too steep a price. Also, don't forget to check out local art fairs; you can sometimes find unique supplies there. If you’re into community events, keep an eye out for the next MTG meet at The Mind Café; it’s a great place to showcase your alters and get inspired by others. Can't wait to see your Lightning Bolt and any other alters you’ve done! Let’s keep the creativity flowing, lah!
