Hey guys! With all the tournaments coming up like the Singapore Open and Malaysia Championships, I'm curious to know what commanders you all are playing these days. I feel like the meta here in SEA is so diverse, but I keep seeing a lot of Krenko and Thrasios decks popping up. Anyone has any recommendations for fun yet competitive commanders that can surprise people? Also, which local game stores you guys recommend for finding good cards? I usually hang out at Games Haven or Grey Ogre Games, but I wanna explore more places! Cheers!
Yo! I totally agree, Krenko is super popular lah. But you know what? I’ve been having loads of fun with Niv-Mizzet, Parun. The draw triggers can get crazy, especially if you hit someone with the right spell! Also, if you can find it, try searching for that sweet Dualcaster Mage combo! If you’re looking for places to jam, Flagship Games has some good EDH nights, plus they have air-con – very important in this hot weather, man!
Eh, you guys should also consider playing some underdog commanders like Lord Windgrace or even Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts. They don’t see much play but can pack a punch if built right! Plus, I think there’s a growing community on Facebook for Commander players in Malaysia, you should check it out. As for prices, I saw some nice singles at Grey Ogre Games, but they can be a bit pricey for certain cards. Anyway, hope to see you all at the next tournament!
Aiyoh, don’t forget about the great local customizations too! The meta is not just about winning, it’s also about having fun with your friends! I love making budget decks and trying out janky combos. Keeps things fresh, you know? And at Games Haven, they have a great selection of budget cards! After all, we just wanna enjoy the game in this hot and humid weather, right? Let’s make the next meetup happen at a kopitiam lah!
Hey there! I totally feel you on the meta diversity in SEA. Personally, I've been having a blast with Muldrotha, the Gravetide lately. It’s such a fun deck to play with all the recursion, and it can definitely catch opponents off guard! Plus, it’s great for those long, chill games where you can just keep bringing back your threats. As for other recommendations, maybe give Kenrith, the Returned King a try? He’s super versatile and can be built in so many ways! About local stores, you might wanna check out Battle Bunker in Singapore if you haven’t been yet. They have a good selection and sometimes even host cool events. It’s always nice to meet fellow players there and share ideas while enjoying some kopi! Let’s keep the discussion going, and see you at the next tournament! Cheers!
