Best LGS for MTG in Singapore?

Posted by JKTCollector about 2 months ago

Hey guys! I'm new to the MTG scene here in Singapore, and I wanna know which local game stores you guys usually hang out at. I've heard a lot about Games Haven and Grey Ogre Games, but are there any hidden gems that I should check out? Also, how's the meta here? I'm looking to join some playgroups and maybe even play at the Singapore Open coming up! Any tips on where to get started? Thanks lah!

Welcome to the community! Games Haven is quite popular, they hold events every week. I also like Grey Ogre Games, their staff are super friendly and they have a good selection of singles. As for the meta, expect a lot of midrange decks, especially with the recent set. If you’re planning to join the Singapore Open, better practice with some local players, there’s a good group that meets every Friday at Flagship Games. Prices for events are usually around SGD 10, but it’s worth it for the experience!

Yo, don’t forget about the Malaysia Championships! If you’re up for a little travel, it’s a great way to meet new players and the meta is slightly different across the border. Also, you can find some unique cards you might not see in Singapore. Just be careful of the weather lah, don’t wanna get caught in the rain when you’re travelling. Anyway, good luck with your MTG journey!

Ah, nice to see more players joining! If you’re looking for a casual vibe, try checking out the LGS in the heartlands like the one at Bedok. They have regular tournaments and even some themed nights, very chill atmosphere. Plus, you can find people willing to trade cards. Just make sure to bring some snacks, it can get quite hot sitting there all day! Also, don’t miss out on some local Facebook groups, they often post about events and playgroup meetups. Cheers!

Hey there! Welcome to the MTG community in Singapore! You've got a great start mentioning Games Haven and Grey Ogre Games; both are fantastic spots with a vibrant player base. If you're looking for hidden gems, you might want to check out The Arena as well, they often host casual tournaments and have a really friendly crowd. The meta here is mostly focused on Standard and EDH, but you can find players who enjoy Modern too. Don't forget to join some local Discord servers or Facebook groups, it's a good way to find playgroups and get updates on events. And yes, weather can be a bit hot, but it's all part of the experience! Just grab some iced kopi or teh to keep cool while you play. Good luck with the Singapore Open, and enjoy your time at the tables, lah!

Hey there! Welcome to the MTG scene in Singapore! You’re definitely on the right track with Games Haven and Grey Ogre Games; both are solid choices and have a lot of activities going on. If you’re looking for a lesser-known spot, I’d recommend checking out The Magic Shop; they have a cozy atmosphere and a really welcoming community. You can often find players there willing to help newcomers and even lend you a deck to try out. The meta is quite diverse here, with a good mix of Standard, EDH, and a bit of Modern too, so you’ll have plenty of options. Plus, the Singapore Open is a great event to aim for! Just keep an eye on local Facebook groups for announcements, and don’t hesitate to ask around for playgroups. And yes, it can get hot, so remember to stay hydrated and maybe grab some cold drinks from the nearby hawker stalls while you’re at it. Enjoy your journey into MTG, lah!
