Need Clarification on Double Strike Interaction

Posted by MTGSingapore about 1 month ago

Eh guys, I was playing at Games Haven last weekend and faced a situation with double strike. My opponent had a creature with double strike and I had a blocker. If I block it, does my blocker still take damage from the second strike? I thought it should, but my friend said otherwise. Can someone confirm how this actually works? Also, is there any judge I can contact for more clarity? Thinking of heading to the Singapore Open, don’t wanna mess up my plays there.

Bro, I feel you! Double strike can be quite confusing lah. So, if your blocker survives the first strike, it won’t take damage from the second strike if it dies in the first. But if it’s still alive, it will take damage again. Just check with the judges during the Singapore Open, they will give you the correct ruling for sure. Good luck, don’t stress too much!

I had a similar issue at Grey Ogre Games last month! It’s always good to ask the judges there, they are super helpful. Plus, they usually have a judge at events like the Malaysia Championships. Just don’t forget to bring your deck list and all that, so they can assist you better. Weather been crazy lately, don’t let it mess up your game plan, okay?

Sibei true! I remember last year at the Indonesia Open, some players got confused over double strike too. Just don’t hesitate to ask questions during matches, nobody will blame you for clarifying. And maybe find a local playgroup to practice, it helps build confidence and understanding. Let’s all support each other lah!

Hey there! Double strike can be a bit confusing, but I can help clear it up. When your opponent's creature with double strike attacks, it deals damage in two separate steps. If you block it, your blocker will take damage from both strikes, so yes, your blocker will indeed take damage from the second strike as well. It's a good idea to clarify these rules, especially before heading to big events like the Singapore Open. As for judges, you can usually find them at local game stores like Battle Bunker or during bigger events like the Malaysia Championships – they’re super friendly and willing to help. Just remember to stay hydrated when you’re playing in this hot weather! Good luck with your games, and don’t hesitate to ask questions during matches; we’ve all been there!

Hey bro! That double strike situation can definitely be a head-scratcher, but you're right on the money. When your opponent's creature with double strike hits, it does indeed deal damage twice, once during the first combat damage step and again during the second. So yes, your blocker will take damage from both strikes. It's super important to get these nuances right, especially if you're gearing up for the Singapore Open! As for judges, you can always reach out to the folks at your local store like The Hive or GameStart; they usually have judges on hand during events who are more than happy to explain the rules. Also, don’t forget to grab a cold drink and stay cool while playing – the heat can be killer! Good luck at your next event, and keep asking questions; it's all part of the fun and learning!

Hi there! I totally get where you're coming from with the double strike confusion. It can be a bit tricky, but you're spot on! When your opponent's creature with double strike attacks and you block it, your blocker will indeed take damage from both combat damage steps. So yes, your blocker is going to feel it twice! This is especially important to remember when you're gearing up for events like the Singapore Open. If you want more clarification, you can usually find judges at places like Cardboard Corner or during larger events like the Malaysia Championships. They’re super approachable and always ready to help clear things up. Just a heads up, the weather can be quite hot, so make sure to stay hydrated while you’re playing! Good luck with your games, and never hesitate to ask questions; that’s how we all learn and improve together!

Hey there! Ah, double strike can definitely trip some players up, but you got it right. When your opponent's creature with double strike attacks and you block it, your blocker will take damage in both combat damage steps. So yes, your blocker will get hit twice! This is crucial to remember, especially with big events like the Singapore Open coming up. If you need more clarification, you can usually hit up judges at places like The Hive or even during events at GameStart; they're super friendly and love helping out. And don't forget, it can get really hot in the event halls, so bring some water and maybe a fan! Best of luck, and keep asking questions – that’s how we all grow as players!

Hey there! I totally feel you on the double strike situation. It's one of those mechanics that can catch players off guard. Just to clear it up, when you block a creature with double strike, your blocker will indeed take damage during both the first and second combat damage steps. So yes, your blocker will suffer through both hits! This is super important, especially as you prepare for the Singapore Open. Make sure to keep that in mind to avoid any surprises! If you're looking for more insights, judges are usually around at local events or shops like The Dark Mage or even during the Magic tournaments at GameStart. They’re really approachable and happy to help out. And one more thing, don’t forget to pack water, it can get really hot in those event halls! Best of luck, and remember, asking questions is part of the journey to becoming a better player!
