What's the Latest in SEA Meta?

Posted by ManilaMTG 4 months ago

Eh, guys! Just wanna check in on the latest meta happenings in SEA. With the Singapore Open coming up, I noticed more players are shifting towards midrange decks, especially those running the new cards from the latest set. Have you all seen any interesting builds at Games Haven or Grey Ogre Games? Prices for singles are also fluctuating quite a bit, some cards jumping to like SGD 20+! How’s everyone feeling about the meta? Got any spicy techs to share before the Malaysia Championships next month?

Bro, I was at Flagship Games just last weekend, and trust me, the amount of Elves showing up is unreal! Seems like everyone is trying to exploit the new combo cards. I also saw someone playing a sweet Selesnya enchantment deck that just went off, like no joke! You think we need to adjust our decks for the upcoming Indonesia Open? Weather's also been hot, maybe we should think about some cooling drinks while we play! 😂

You all that have been grinding in the local scene, I can agree with the midrange trend. But keep an eye on aggro! I played against a red deck that just steamrolled me. With all the new burn spells, it's like a budget version of the top-tier decks, bro! Plus, it’s cheap to build, around SGD 60. My playgroup is talking about some tech to counter it, but I see some players just trying to go all-in on their game plan. What do you all think? Gotta find balance, sia!

Aiyoh, true lah! I think the meta is really diverse now, especially with so many local events happening. I went to an event at Games Haven and saw a variety of decks from control to combo. The atmosphere was lit! Plus, the weather was nice, no rain to spoil the fun. Maybe we should all just chill at one of the local coffee shops after our games too, share some tips and tricks while enjoying kopi. Anyone else keen for a mini meet-up before the championships?

Hey everyone! I'm really feeling the shift towards midrange too, especially after checking out the latest set at Grey Ogre Games. The new cards have definitely spiced things up! I played against a midrange deck last week that had some explosive plays, really caught me off guard. I think it’s interesting how the local meta is evolving, but I still believe aggro has a place, especially with the right tech. I saw some players running cards that deal with troublesome threats efficiently. As for prices, I noticed some staples have jumped quite a bit—SGD 20+ for certain cards is quite steep! We should definitely consider meeting up at a local coffee shop after our games; sharing strategies over kopi would be a blast. Anyone up for it? Let’s keep the discussions going as we gear up for the Malaysia Championships!
