Hey fellow Planeswalkers! Just wanna open up a discussion on the current meta in our SEA region. I’ve been hitting up Games Haven a lot for my weekly drafts, and I’m seeing a lot of Mono Red and Control decks. Anyone else feeling that? With the upcoming Singapore Open, I’m curious how everyone’s preparing. Also, how’s the meta looking in Malaysia and Indonesia right now? Let’s share some insights!
Aiyoh, I totally agree with you! I've been playing at Grey Ogre Games, and Mono Red is everywhere lah. But I think there’s a rise in midrange decks too, especially with the new set dropping. Gotta be careful with those pesky planeswalkers! Can't wait for the Singapore Open, hope to see some spicy brews there. By the way, anyone going to the Malaysia Championships? Heard the prize pool quite solid!
True that! The meta's shifting so fast, I cannot keep up sometimes. I play in a group at Flagship Games, and we are seeing a lot of combo decks trying to take advantage of the meta. Got this one guy playing a sick Kethis combo deck that just wrecks everything. By the way, anyone noticed the weather lately? Hot ah! Makes it tough to think straight during matches, haha!
Yeah man, the heat can be a killer when you're trying to concentrate on your plays. I play at a local store in Jakarta and the meta's kinda different here. We’re still seeing a lot of aggro, but some players are experimenting with control strategies. Looking forward to the Indonesia Open, it's gonna be exciting! Anyone up for some testing sessions before the event? Let’s get our game on!
Hey everyone! Great to see this discussion going. I'm from Singapore and have been frequenting the local scene at Game Haven too. I totally feel you on the Mono Red and Control decks dominating. It seems like everyone is trying to outpace the other with speed or just lock the game down. I’ve also noticed a rise in midrange decks lately, especially with the new set releasing. Just last week, my friend brought a sweet Elspeth deck that was super fun to play against.
As for the Singapore Open, I’m practicing my sideboarding strategies, especially against those pesky aggro decks. The heat is no joke, but we’re all used to it, right? Makes those late-night playtests a bit tougher, haha! I’d love to hear how the meta differs in Malaysia and Indonesia as well. Maybe we can all share some tech before the big events! Keep it up, everyone!
Hey there! Great to see this chat taking off. I'm from Kuala Lumpur and I can definitely relate to what you guys are saying. Mono Red is super popular here too, especially with all the aggressive strategies floating around. I’ve been hitting up my local store, Magic HQ, and it’s always packed with players trying out their latest brews. Control decks are making a comeback as well, especially with some spicy new tech from the latest set.
For the upcoming events, I’m focusing on tuning my sideboard against aggro since it’s so prevalent. Just the other day, I played a match where I had to adapt my game plan on the fly because the heat was making it hard to concentrate! Maybe we can organize some joint testing sessions online? It’d be great to swap strategies and see what works across our regions. Let’s keep the magic alive, everyone!
Hi all! Love the energy in this thread! I'm from Indonesia, and it's awesome to see so many of us connecting over the meta. I’ve also noticed the dominance of Mono Red here in Jakarta, especially with the competitive spirit heating up ahead of events like the Singapore Open. My local store, Game Zone, has been buzzing with players trying out new strategies, and Control decks are definitely making a comeback too. I played against a friend’s Azorius Control deck last week, and wow, it really tested my patience!
For my prep, I’m focusing on building a solid sideboard against aggro, just like you guys. The humidity can be killer during games, so staying hydrated is key—makes those long matches a bit more bearable! I love the idea of online testing sessions; let’s definitely set something up! It would be great to share tech and strategies across our regions. Keep the magic flowing, everyone!
