What's cooking in the SEA Meta these days?

Posted by SGCombo about 1 month ago

Hey everyone! Just wanted to start a discussion about the current meta here in SEA. With the Singapore Open coming up next month, I feel like everyone's scrambling to tune their decks. Anyone noticed how aggro is making a comeback? I was playing at Games Haven last week, and it felt like half the tables had some form of Mono-Red or Boros. Also, what's the deal with control decks? Are they still viable? Let's share some insights and maybe help each other out for the upcoming events, lah!

Eh, totally agree! I was at Grey Ogre Games last weekend and the aggro decks were just relentless. I tried bringing my Dimir control, but I kept getting burnt out before I could set up! But hey, with the Malaysia Championships around the corner, maybe I should just switch to something faster. Also, did you guys see the prices of cards lately? Mana Crypt almost hit SGD 200! Crazy, right?

Aiyoh, you guys talking about Mono-Red? I played against it at the Indonesia Open last month. Super fast, can’t even catch a breather! I think midrange might be the way to go now, like Abzan or Jund. Can adapt to the aggro but also pack a punch against control. By the way, if anyone is looking for a local playgroup, we meet every Saturday at Flagship Games. Always nice to have a good banter while playing, lah!

Wah, I didn't expect that aggro would dominate so much! I'm always stuck between bringing my pet deck or trying to meta-chase. But with the weather so hot lately, maybe a fast-paced deck is just the thing to keep me on my toes! Planning to drop by Games Haven this weekend; maybe can catch some friendly matches before the Singapore Open. Anyone wants to join?

Hey lah! It's really interesting to see how aggro is making waves lately. I noticed the same trend when I played at Card Haven last week—felt like I was in a race! Mono-Red and Boros are definitely putting the pressure on. I think the key is to find a balance in your deck. Maybe splash in some life gain or board wipes if you're going for control? I’ve been testing out some Selesnya builds that can hold their ground against aggro while still having answers for control. Also, if anyone's looking for some practice, I’m planning to hit up the local FNM at Game On this Friday. Always good to play and chat about strategies! Let’s keep this convo going and share what works for us, lah!
