Yo MTG fam! Just got back from the Singapore Open 2023 held at Games Haven, and wah, what a day it was! Played my Mono-Red Aggro deck, and honestly, the meta felt quite balanced this time. Saw a lot of control decks, but my burn spells did wonders, haha! Lost in the top 8 to a sick Sultai Midrange build, though. Prices at the event were decent too, with booster packs going for about SGD 6 each. Anyone else there? How did your matches go? Lets share our experiences!
Aiyoh, I was at the event too! I played Esper Control and met some crazy matchups. The weather was super hot, but inside Games Haven was nice and chill, thank goodness! I didn't make it past the Swiss rounds, but I did manage to snag some sweet trades. My friend got a foil Planeswalker for just SGD 30. So worth it! What's everyone's thought on the meta? Think it’s gonna shift after this tourney?
I missed the Singapore Open this year, but heard it was packed! I went to the Malaysia Championships instead last month. Meta was all over the place, but saw quite a few players rocking the new cards from the latest set. The vibes were lit, and everyone was super friendly at Flagship Games. Can't wait to hear more about the Singapore results! Anyone planning to go to the Indonesia Open next?
Hey there! Glad to hear you had a blast at the SG Open! I was actually playing in a local tournament at The Dragon's Lair last weekend, and it was super hot too! I played a Bant Ramp deck and faced a lot of aggro, so I feel your pain on the burn spells. It's always tough when you hit a strong midrange deck, they can be so versatile! I think the meta is shifting a bit here in Singapore, especially with new cards coming out. Prices for singles have been going up, especially for the popular ones, but booster packs are still quite reasonable, just like you mentioned. I’m planning to check out the next event at Hobby Forge, and I’m curious to see if the Sultai Midrange will dominate! Let’s keep sharing our experiences, it’s always fun to learn from each other!
