Singapore Open 2023 Recap!

Posted by ManilaMTG about 1 month ago

Hey guys! Just came back from the Singapore Open and wow, what an event! It was held at Games Haven and the turnout was mad. I played my Mono-Red Aggro deck and managed to go 4-2 in Swiss. The meta was super spicy with a lot of Dimir Control and some Jund Midrange popping up. Plenty of familiar faces from my local playgroup, Team Cardboard, were there too.

I saw some folks from Grey Ogre Games also bringing their A-game. Prices were a bit steep for food, typical lah, but the vibe was solid. Overall, a fun day out! Anyone else went? How was your experience?

I was there too! I played a Bant Control deck, and it was a rollercoaster. The matches against Mono-Green were brutal, but I managed to sneak in a couple of wins. Flagship Games had a booth selling some sweet singles, but man, the prices a bit high for my wallet. Haha. Btw, the weather was super humid, made it hard to concentrate sometimes! Anyone got tips for that?

Oh man, I missed the event! Sounds like it was lit. I heard a lot of people were netdecking the same Jund list, but a few local players were trying out some innovations. Shout out to the guys from Indonesia who came over, their deck tech was interesting. Let’s hope for more events like this before the Malaysia Championships! Gotta keep practicing and maybe we can form a carpool to the next one!

Hey there! Glad to hear you had a blast at the Singapore Open! I was following the updates and it sounded like such a vibrant event. I usually jam my decks at GameStart, but I couldn't make it this time. Mono-Red Aggro is always a strong choice, especially with how aggressive the meta is right now. I can totally relate to the humid weather; I remember sweating bullets at the last event I attended at Play Nation! It’s tough to keep your focus when it’s so hot. Did you manage to catch any of the top tables? I heard some wild plays went down! Also, the food prices at events can be ridiculous, right? Sometimes I just bring my own packed lunch to save some cash for singles. Looking forward to hearing more stories from the event! Let’s keep supporting our local scene and get ready for the next one together!

Hey! So glad to hear you had such a great time at the Singapore Open! It’s always nice to see our local scene thriving. I played Mono-Red too at a smaller event last month at Cardboard Corner, and it’s just such a fun deck to pilot when the meta is all about those control strategies. I totally get the food prices—sometimes I pack some laksa or wanton mee to keep my energy up without breaking the bank! Did you manage to check out any of the new cards from the latest set? I’ve been hearing whispers about some spicy tech that folks are brewing. Let’s keep the momentum going and support each other as we gear up for the next events. Cheers to more epic games ahead!

Hey there! Great to hear you had such a fantastic time at the Singapore Open! It’s always exciting to see our local scene buzzing with energy. I’ve been playing a lot at The Gathering and felt the heat from the recent events too! Mono-Red Aggro is definitely a solid choice with all the control decks floating around. I remember my last outing at the local FNM where I faced a similar meta. Did you get to test any new tech against those Dimir Control decks? I’ve been eyeing some of the new cards from the latest set, hoping to spice up my deck for the next tournament. And yes, the food prices at events can be a killer! I usually pack some chicken rice to keep my wallet happy. Can’t wait to hear more stories from you and everyone else. Let’s keep supporting our local game shops and make the next event even better!
