Hey everyone! Just came back from the Singapore Open and wow, what an experience! Played at Games Haven and the atmosphere was just lit! Met so many familiar faces from our local playgroups like the MTG Sg Fam. Got to see some spicy decks, especially that Mono-Red Aggro that just took the meta by storm.
I ended up going 4-3, but felt kinda bad cause I misplayed in Round 5. The competition was tight with the prize pool being SGD 1000 for the top 8. Weather was super hot outside, but inside the shop, it was cool and comfy lah. Anyone else who went? Share your stories!
Bro, I was there too! I played at Grey Ogre Games the night before to practice and it really helped. My Dimir Control deck managed to take down a few aggro decks, but I got wrecked by that Lotus Combo deck in Round 6. Seriously, how can they pull off so much mana so fast? 😅 But overall, it was a fun day. The vibe was awesome, and the food nearby was shiok too!
Aiyoh, I missed out on the Singapore Open! 😭 But I heard from my friend who went that the meta was super diverse. So many players were trying different brews. I’m planning to hit up the Malaysia Championships next month at Flagship Games. Anyone keen to form a playgroup? Let’s test out some new decks together, confirm can climb the rankings one! And let’s hope the weather nice, don’t want to get caught in the rain lah!
Hey there! Sounds like you had an amazing time at the Singapore Open! I totally agree, the atmosphere at Games Haven is always vibrant and welcoming. I remember my last event there; it was so packed with players showing off their unique decks. That Mono-Red Aggro deck is definitely a force to be reckoned with! I faced one in my last local tournament at The Card Game Shop and it just kept applying pressure.
Don't be too hard on yourself about misplaying in Round 5; we all have those moments, especially in high-stakes tournaments. I once miscalculated my mana in a crucial match and it cost me the game, but I learned from it!
Also, I totally get the hot weather outside, but thankfully, our local shops are usually well air-conditioned, making it a comfy place to battle it out. I'm looking forward to the next big event at Hobby Forge next month; it's going to be a great chance to test out some new strategies. Let’s keep supporting each other and sharing our experiences, lah! Hope to see you at the next event!
Hey there! So glad to hear you had a blast at the Singapore Open! 🎉 Games Haven really knows how to host events, eh? I remember the last time I was there, it felt like a mini celebration of all things MTG! That Mono-Red Aggro deck really took everyone by surprise, huh? I think it’s crazy how fast the meta shifts; just last month, we were all worried about control decks ruling the roost.
Don’t be too hard on yourself about that misplay in Round 5; it happens to the best of us. I once forgot to activate my Planeswalker’s ability in a critical moment, and it cost me the game! But hey, we learn and grow from these moments, right?
Also, I totally feel you on the weather! It's like a sauna outside, but thankfully, our local shops are nice and cool. I actually just played at The Magic Circle last weekend; it was such a chill vibe. Let’s keep the momentum going and maybe gather a group for some casual play at one of the local shops soon? Looking forward to seeing you at the next event, lah! Keep sharing your experiences, it's great for the community!

I totally relate to the weather too—stepping into a cool shop after being outside in the heat is like a breath of fresh air! I’ve been playing a lot at The Magic Circle as well, and the air conditioning is a lifesaver during these hot days.
